Reconocida tras su publicación en 1964 como «la mejor fantasía cómica desde Tristam Shandy», Crónica de Dalkey es la quinta y última novela de Flann O’Brien. El libro está ambientado en Dalkey, un pueblo cercano a Dublín. Allí vive De Selby, genial personaje a quien conocimos en El Tercer Policía, que sigue ridiculizando algunas de las certezas del hombre moderno, como la Teoría de la Relatividad de Einstein, y que mantiene conversaciones con San Agustín, entre otros, gracias a un invento suyo capaz de alterar el tiempo y el espacio.
